Color as Curative: Bringing Vibrant Energy Inside
One aspect of being sequestered in our homes during this COVID-19 experience is a lot more staring at our walls. So it seems like a good time to explore this idea of ‘Color as Curative’ and think about how to bring vibrant energy inside. (Featured above: In the Royal Flow, reproduced to custom size.)
Love to My New Art Collectors!
We are finally catching our breath after the whirlwind that was Maui Open Studios this year. Cara and I were thrilled to have so many people come to my home art studio a few weekends ago.
You’re Never too Young to Start Collecting Art
I’m celebrating my 74th birthday today (yay Aquarius!) and thinking back to an art sale from a few years ago. A young 7-year-old girl (with her parents’ help) purchased three of my paintings from the Enchantress Gallery in The Shops at Wailea. The family was decorating their new home on Maui and the young girl was thrilled to select these pieces for her room — and she was on her way to start collecting art!
Join me at Maui Open Studios 2020!
Maui Open Studios is celebrating their 10th year! We’re happy to be joining for 2020 and hope you will make a plan to visit us in the studio. The past year has been one of so much growth and change in my art. We’ve had shows at Enchantress Gallery in Wailea, shows in LA, and a deep dive into abstract painting!
An Art2Life Inspiration Story
After encouragement from a few of my artist friends, I signed up for Art2Life Spring 2019 course. I never thought that a three-month course would engross me as completely as it did but I found myself loving every minute of learning, growing, experimenting, and creating!
Honoring my Icons
When I heard Oprah’s speech receiving the Cecil. B. DeMille award at 2018 The Golden Globes, I was so moved that I felt inspired to paint her in my style. She has helped so many, educated and raised the consciousness of so many people all over the world.
Outsider Artist
I am so excited to share my new artist video with you, fabulously filmed by Doug DeBoer, a talented artist himself. It’s an introduction to my art and tells a short version of my journey. I will be following up with some shorter videos talking about my genres and individual pieces!
Maui Mermaid Extravaganza!
The Maui Mermaid Extravaganza was a raging success! It was incredibly fun and fulfilling to create this event that showcased my recent glitter and mermaid inspiration that took over my studio! So many Maui Mermaids-kids and adults alike, enjoyed it and I loved sharing the Aloha with them.
Maui Mermaid Extravaganza by Hermine Harman at Enchantress Gallery
Calling all mermaids, mermen, goddesses of the sea, and mermangels! Join Mermine, the Mermaid Crone for the inaugural Maui Mermaid Extravaganza, hosted by the Enchantress Gallery by Bootzie in The Shops at Wailea.
At the Gallery with Steven Tyler, My Newest Collector
The new gallery location in Wailea is so dynamic! Recently, Steven Tyler purchased a piece of my work at the “soft opening.’ In addition to the diverse collection of artists on display, there’s a steady stream of interesting humans, including our colorful Maui residents, local and visiting celebrities, and visitors of all types stopping by the space.
Gallery News - Moving to Wailea
The Bootzie Gallery is moving to The Shops at Wailea and has a new name: Enchantress Gallery. I’ve been busily working on the upcoming Mermaid Show they are planning. I have been inspired to expand and explore new and different mermaids. I have been having so much fun adding more beads and glitter and feathers and texture. An old Hawaiian Kupuna once told me that mermaids are my ‘Aumakua (the Hawaiian term for ‘spirit animal’).
In Praise of Glitter
Glitter makes me happy, passionate and free…..I love the sparkliness… I love the colors, shades, hue and textures of the different types of glitter….When I get ready to enhance a color burst with my fun accouterments, I take them out in their color palettes, I feel excited with the many shades and hues of all the colors.
Art Opening at Bootzie's Gallery
Thank you to Bootzie and Jim for hosting this gallery opening for me - what a great way to celebrate my 70 years here on earth. We had well over 100 people attend, and, according to Jim Freeborn Welch (one of the gallery owners) it was the largest opening he's seen on Maui in 27 years in the business!
